What to keep doing after launch week

Keep the book’s information and reader relationships current after the concentrated launch activity ends.

Finish the commitments already made

The first job after launch is often administrative. Answer outstanding enquiries, send promised material, confirm remaining appearances and check that review copies or event orders were handled as agreed. A quieter public schedule should not make those commitments disappear from the working list.

Remove or update temporary announcements. A homepage that still says “coming next week” months later creates uncertainty about the rest of the information. Check publication dates, availability links, event listings and any sample downloads. Keep the book page useful for someone arriving without knowledge of the launch.

Retain a manageable rhythm

Choose a few activities that fit the ongoing work: a newsletter with a clear purpose, occasional relevant articles, reader enquiries or events that suit the book. Do not maintain launch intensity merely because stopping feels like abandoning the title. A sustainable pattern leaves room for the next writing project.

Save useful questions from readers and hosts. They may reveal an unclear description, a missing piece of information or a subject worth developing. Separate a recurring question from an isolated preference, and avoid treating every response as an instruction to change the book.

Review while details are still available

Record the launch's actual costs, time and observable results. Note what worked operationally and what created unnecessary pressure. Keep uncertainty visible when several activities happened together. A clear working note will be more useful next time than a general memory that the period was either successful or exhausting.

Archive approved assets, event notes and the final descriptions in a structure you can reopen. Identify which material remains current and which was tied to a specific date. This prevents a future mention from accidentally reusing an expired offer or an old cover.

The book can continue to reach readers through accurate information and relevant occasions to discuss it. The task after launch is to maintain those routes while allowing the author's attention to return to writing, rather than to keep recreating the noise of release week.
